How do you relax?
Hi. I’m the Couch. Yes, that Couch. The one that has seen your Netflix binges, power naps, popcorn spills, and “just five minutes” turning into two-hour snoozes.
People spend all day chasing productivity, but when they collapse into me, the world slows down. Shoulders sink. To-do lists fade. Suddenly, I’m not just furniture—I’m therapy with cushions.
Relaxation isn’t complicated. You don’t need Himalayan retreats or exotic teas. You need me, a blanket, and maybe a snack. I know when you’ve had a rough day; you flop down harder. I know when you’re in “pretend productive” mode; you sit upright with a laptop and slowly slide into horizontal. And I know when you’re happy—you sprawl, stretch, and forget time exists.
Some people think relaxation is about doing something: yoga, meditation, breathwork. Admirable, sure. But me? I remind you that sometimes, true relaxation is about doing nothing at all.
So next time you wonder how to relax, just listen to me—the Couch whispering: “Come. Sit. Stay. Don’t move until tomorrow.”
